Notes
Sir Stapleton Cotton was made 1st Baron Combermere in 1814,
and elevated to Viscount Comberemere in 1830.
The Field Marshall's two greatest victories, at Salamanca, Spain, in 1812,
and Bhutpore, India, in 1825,
were celebrated in Cheshire by building two Inns
"The Bhurtpore" at Aston, and "The Salamanca" (now closed) at Wrenbury.
