Royle, Bannister and Thomas Streets, are three short streets off Higher Hillgate, Stockport. They are now in a business zone. All the houses have been demolished. The above view looks along Higher Hillgate. Royle Street is on the left alongside the red brick building, even the signmakers are unsure how to spell its name. The next building along Higher Hillgate is the Royal Mortar pub. Bannister Street runs along the far side of the pub. Further along is the chimmney of the Royal Oak Brewery. Thomas Street runs alongside the brewery. In the distance is the tower of St Thomas's church.
